In the upcoming season, she will make her debut at The Metropolitan Opera, and Tiroler Festspiele. Beate, a lyric coloratura soprano from Molde, Norway, began her career as a jazz singer before transitioning to the classical and opera stage. Her diverse repertoire includes contemporary music, jazz, musicals, opera, and songs. Her exciting opera career began in 2015 as Papagena at The Royal Danish Opera. The following summer she debuted at the Festival d’Aix-en-Provence where she received the prestigious “Laureate of the Festival d’Aix-En-Provence.” Since then, Beate has consistently performed at this festival in operas such as Lena in Svadba (2016-2017) by Ana sokolovic, Najade in Ariadne auf Naxos (2018) and in two critically acclaimed world premiere’s: Innocence by Kaija Saariaho (2021) and; Picture A Day Like This (2023) by Sir George Benjamin. In the Summer of 2024, Beate portrayed Gudrun in the historical Norwegian musical “Spelet om Heilag Olav” at Stiklestad. A role and venue of immense prestige in Norway. She debuted at The Royal Danish Opera singing Eileen in Bernsteins “A wonderful Town,” and later debuted with same role at The Norwegian Opera and ballet. Beate was twice asked to sing Maria in West Side Story at The Royal Danish Opera. The pandemic in 2020 led to its cancellation, and Beate couldn’t sing in the rescheudled performances due to imminent arrrival of her baby daughter! Beate has frequently performed with Bergen National Opera, initially as Artist in Residence. In 2021 Beate jumped in to sing Vitellia in Clemenza di Tito under the baton of Ed Gardner, a performance that was livestreamed to critical acclaim! In 2022, she returned as Valencienne in The Merry Widow 2.0 directed by Kasper Holten. Beate is an accomplished recording artist with several CDs to her name. Her begynte hun med jazzsang, men ble introdusert til klassisk sang og opera og fortsatte veien på Bachelor i Trondheim og Operaakademiet i København. Våren 2015 fullførte hun utdannelsen, og før hun ble ferdig debuterte hun som Papagena i “Die Zauberflöte” av Mozart, ved Den Kongelige Danske opera. Samme sommer ble hun engasjert som Lena i den moderne a cappella operaen SVADBA under festivalen i Aix-en-Provence, og siden har hun returnert mer eller mindre hver sommer, til og med sommer 2023 hvor hun sang verdenspremieren av Picture a Day Like This av Sir George Benjamin og Martin Crimp. Beate har også vært med på en annen verdenspremiere i Aix, nemlig ikoniske Innocence av Kaija Saariaho. Denne operaen har blitt kjøpt opp av verdensledende hus; hvor Beate har vært med i castet til nå, som Covent Garden våren 2023, og San Francisco Opera våren 2024. Hun har allerede debutert som Najade i Ariadne auf Naxos i Aix-en-Provence og Theatre Champs-Elysées i Paris, Sopran i Carmina Burana av Carl Orff med Trondheim Symfoniorksester (2019), Eileen i “Wonderful Town” av Bernstein på Det Kongelige Teater i København og Den norske opera og ballett (2022), Frasquita i Carmen for Operaen i Kristiansund (2018), Pamina i Tryllefløyten med Opera Østfold og Longborough Festival Opera i England (2017). I 2019 ble hun tildelt tittelen “Artist in residence” for Bergen Nasjonale Opera, som har vart over 20/21 sesongen. Og her har hun siden sunget både Vitellia i La Clemenza di Tito (under corona) og Valencienne i Den glade enke 2.0 (2022).
